Setting Up an Office Carpool

A carpool is a good way to cut back on your expenses in business travel such as parking costs, gas, and car maintenance. It also allows every member of the carpool to get some rest on days when it is not their turn to drive. Furthermore, travelling in a carpool is one way for you to do your part in preserving environmental resources. Follow these tips so you can successfully set up a carpool with other people from your office.

One thing that you should consider before anything else is the people who will become members of your carpool. Since all of you would be spending quite a bit of time together in the same small space, you need to be sure that you pick people who get along with one another. Make sure that these carpool members enjoy each other’s company and that everyone is or less friends. The next thing that you need to consider is the work schedules of the different carpool members. Make sure that everyone has a similar schedule since it would be inconvenient if you had to wait for someone to get to work or to leave the office. Once you have gathered a list of members who are interested in joining the carpool, then you can start figuring out the logistics of the whole thing. Set up a schedule so that each member would know when it is his turn to drive everyone and you should also create a fund where the members can contribute for gas money and parking fees.
